A-League new boys Macarthur have made a big splash in the league in the past several weeks with the high profile reported acquisitions of Craig Noone, Daniel De Silva and Ulises Davila, but are set to lose their star striker and top goalscorer Matt Derbyshire.
Derbyshire, who recently turned 35, was one of Macarthur Bulls premier players in their debut campaign, leading the goal scoring charts for the club with an impressive 14 goals in 25 appearances, finishing second overall in the league behind Jamie Maclaren.
Sources have told Kick360 that Derbyshire is set to leave the Bulls and Australia to return to Europe, reportedly signing for an unnamed Cypriot First Division club for the 2021/2022 season. He was contracted until the end of the 2021/22 season with the Campbelltown-based side.
Derbyshire previously spent four years in the Cypriot First Division in Cyprus plying his trade for for Omonia, where he scored 62 goals in 113 appearances and won the leagues golden boot twice; in the 2016-17 season and in the 2017-18 season.
