How did these sides perform over the weekend? Find out below!
Adelaide United
NPL Affiliate: Adelaide United (NPL South Australia)
Position: 5th
This weekend: Adelaide United v Adelaide City, Saturday August 7 7:30pm, Jack Smith Park
Adelaide United dropped out of a finals spot in the SA NPL, losing to ladder leaders Adelaide City 4-2.
After conceding the opening goal of the game in the 32nd minute, United would equalise minutes from halftime through Binyam Kebede who’s been lively for United in attack this season.
The leading scorer for United’s NPL side this season, it was his fifth goal in the competition.
Level 1-1 at halftime, United would go down 2-1 before striker Mohamed Toure equalised in the 64th minute.
Having scored three goals in 15 appearances for the A-League side last season, he has now bagged three goals in seven of his NPL appearances.
United would go behind for the first time a minute later, before going down two goals in the 80th minute.
Perth Glory
NPL affiliate: Perth Glory (NPL Western Australia)
Position: 4th
This Weekend: Perth Glory v Joondalup, Saturday 7 August 5:00pm, Crazy Domains Stadium
Perth Glory winning run continues with their 3-0 victory over Joondalup, undefeated in their past five fixtures.
The Glory would break the deadlock in the 18th minute, striker Ciaran Bramwell scoring his 11th goal of the season.
Set up by Aidan Edwards’ through ball, Bramwell would fire into the bottom left corner from the edge of the box.
Ahead 1-0 at halftime, the Glory would double their advantage in the 52nd through midfielder Jack Painter-Andrews, scoring from a corner.
Left unmarked at the far post, Painter-Andrews would tap home the goal.
The Glory’s third goal would come through forward Adam Zimarino who’d score his 10th goal of the season in the 62nd minute.
Yet to make an A-League appearance for the Glory, Zimarino could be on the cusp of breaking into the senior side in the upcoming season.
