It would be another weekend of NPL action where only two A-League youth sides were in action.
How did these sides perform over the weekend? Find out below!
Adelaide United
NPL Affiliate: Adelaide United (NPL South Australia)
Position: 8th
This weekend: Adelaide United v Sturt Lions, August 14 3:30pm, West Beach Parks Football Centre
Adelaide United lost their third consecutive game, falling to eight on the ladder following a 2-1 loss to Sturt Lions.
United started off brightly scoring the opening goal of the game through midfielder Johnny Yull.
It was his fourth goal of the season, netting in the 36th minute to take a 1-0 lead into halftime.
Leading for most of the match, United would eventually fall behind after conceding two goals inside the final half hour of the game.
Lions striker Samuel Voigt would score a brace, scoring two inside five minutes to seal United’s fate.
Perth Glory
NPL Affiliate: Perth Glory (NPL Western Australia)
Position: 4th
This weekend: Perth Glory v Sorrento, August 14 5:00pm, Percy Doyle Reserve
Unbeaten in their past eight games, Perth Glory’s winning run would come to an end going down to Sorrento FC in a battle of fourth v third.
Sorrento would waste little time breaking the deadlock, with the home side scoring within the opening five minutes of the game.
Sorrento midfielder Jordan Brown would receive a clever through ball to be one on one with Glory’s keeper Samuel Reilly, firing a low hard ball to open the scoring.
Glory would press Sorrento for the rest of the game but were unable to find an equaliser, eventually going down 1-0.
