Former Sydney Olympic midfielder Peter Makrillos has returned to Australia after a year with Bulgarian side Slavia Sofia, and is exploring opportunities for a move to the A-League Men or abroad.
Makrillos’ representatives confirmed to Kick360 that the player is interested in playing in the A-League Men, but would only listen to offers from some of the “big clubs”.
He is currently back in Sydney due to personal reasons yet he has received offers from Italian and Hungarian clubs, with a return to Europe looking increasingly likely.
A Stoke City youth product, Makrillos’ first senior experience came with native sides Newcastle Town, Rockdale, and Sydney Olympic. After impressing in the NPL NSW he earned a move to Greek outfit Panionios. He also had a short stint with IFK Mariehamn in Finland.
The 26-year-old has spent the last year in Bulgaria with Slavia Sofia, where he amassed 39 appearances, scoring 11 goals and providing five assists in all competitions.
Makrillos has also spent some time in the youth set-up of former Premier League club Stoke City and spent three months at the well renowned Barcelona academy, entitled La Masia.
The Sydney-born midfielder has previously said several times times that he dreams of making it to the Socceroos squad and he hopes that his next move could help him accomplish that ambition.
This is a developing story
