Adelaide United’s fortress will be a little bit quieter for the 2021/22 season, as Coopers Stadium continues to undergo significant redevelopment in time for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
The Eastern Stand, which will be receiving a new roof in time for the World Cup, will be out of action meaning the capacity at Hindmarsh will be reduced to 11,889.
United will play its first home game of the season tomorrow night against Melbourne City, and it will do so under a series of stringent measures due to the construction, as well as South Australia’s COVID-19 laws.
“We’re excited to welcome fans back to Coopers Stadium from this weekend,” said Coopers Stadium General Manger Phil King.
“To help expedite entry we’re encouraging spectators to arrive early, pay close attention to the designated entry gate on their ticket, and note changes to both Stadium access and Conditions of Entry, which can be found on our website.”
Among the rule changes are:
- Gate 10 (Manton Street Entrance) will be closed for the 2021/22 season
- All patrons aged 16 and over will be required to be fully vaccinated and show proof of vaccination prior to entry
- SA Health has directed that patrons over the age of 12 are required to wear a mask when moving around the ground, masks can only be removed when seated
Work is also nearing completion on the women’s change rooms, which will allow Adelaide United to host double-headers of A-League Men and Women’s games once more this season.
The Eastern Stand, as well as including a new roof, will also play host to vastly improved corporate facilities and improved disabled access. Work is expected to conclude in late 2022.
