Former Dynamo Kyiv attacker Clayton da Silveira da Silva, more commonly known as Clayton, is exploring opportunities within the A-League.
His representative, Júnior Carreiro, confirmed to Kick360 that he had held talks with a Melbourne club about a move, though a deal is yet to be completed.
Carreiro, a former player himself, knows the league well. His brother, Helbert Frederico Carreiro da Silva, better know as Fred, is a former A-League champion who spent time on the books at Melbourne Victory, Wellington Phoenix and Melbourne Heart.
Clayton first caught the eye in his native Brazil, breaking through at Série A side Figueirense, where he enjoyed two strong individual seasons.
Since then, the winger has enjoyed spells at some of Brazil’s most historic clubs, including Athlético Mineiro, Corinthians and Vasco da Gama, and gained continental experience in both the Copa Sudamericana and the Copa Libertadores.
The 25 year old spent last season in the Ukrainian top flight, where he spent time on the books of giants Dynamo Kiev
The A-League is believed to be the Brazil youth international’s favoured destination.
In a statement made through his representatives, the free agent stated;
“It would be an honour to move to the A-League. My family and I would be very happy to experience life in Australia.”
