Former Empoli forward Manuel Pucciarelli has been linked with Melbourne City in the past week, with reports emerging from Italian website Tutto Mercato that he was linked to a side playing in Melbourne that according to his agent Fabrizio Ferrari, that “play in the Champions League”.
In addition to this speculation, Kick360‘s Thomas Williams has confirmed these reports, citing that the two parties are in negotiations with no agreement being reached as of yet.
Pucciarelli has played over 150 games in Italy’s top flight, operating as a second-striker mainly over the course of his career as he has plied his trade for the likes of Empoli, Pescara, Chievo Verona and more recently Dibba Al-Furjarah in the UAE on loan from Chievo.
Over the course of the off-season, Melbourne City have signed Socceroos forward Matthew Leckie and former City academy member turned NPL defender Jordan Hall.
Pucciarelli could be identified as Adrian Luna’s replacement, having departed the club this off-season.
