Western United have announced that for their A-League Men fixture against the Western Sydney Wanderers on the 20th of February it will be in partnership with Foodbank Victoria.
Happsa Group’s Goals to Fight Hunger in partnership with Western United and Foodbank will provide the club’s extended partner network which has ensured that Western United scoring a goal results in $200 being donated to Foodbank Victoria. However for the game against the Wanderers, this number will be multiplied.
So far, Western United have scored nine goals which has led to 3,600 meals being donated to those in need.
“We’ve seen how powerful communities can be when we work together with them to deliver what they need. Everyone involved in this food relief match shares that deep connection to their local community, and we’re looking forward to joining our friends from the West on game day to help raise funds and keep feeding vulnerable people,” said Foodbank CEO Dave McNamara
In 2021, the Foodbank Hunger Report revealed that one in every six adults in Australia hadn’t had enough to eat over the previous year, while 1.2 million children had gone without adequate food.
Tickets are on sale from 4pm on Friday, February 11 and are part of the A-Leagues’ Feb Frenzy, with all adult general admission prices frozen at $20 for the entire month.
