Following the announcement that the NPL NSW seasons have been cancelled for season 2021, Football NSW have offered facilities to create mass and pop-up vaccination hubs to assist with the current situation in tackling Covid-19 within the state.
Football NSW received an abundance of support from members to approach health services and as such, the federation have made several facilities available for mass and pop-up vaccination hubs which has the possibility to include the Football NSW headquarters known as Valentine Sports Park.
Football NSW have also rolled out a video campaign urging the community to vaccinate including former NSW Premier and now Football NSW Morris Iemma, former Socceroos coach Les Schienflug, Marianna Rudan, media personality and Football NSW director Stephanise Brantz as well as well known NSW born footballers and coaches including Alen Stajcic and JP de Maringy.
“The vast player and volunteer base of football in CALD communities puts football in a unique position to disseminate accurate and timely information on the need to vaccinate” a statement from Football NSW read.
“The message is clear, as a sport, we are all in this together.
“Football NSW is urging everyone to give Covid-19 the boot. With the support and help of everyone in the football family, it’s a step in the right direction in giving this disease a red card and for many of us, a pathway in getting back to doing the things we love, such as playing the world game.”
