The Newcastle Jets have unveiled their new home jersey for the upcoming 2021/22 A-League season, answering the call from loyal fans with a return to their classic and iconic golden colour, which they donned from 2005 to 2011.
The golden colour isn’t the only thing that is returning for the Newcastle Jets, with kit manufacturer Viva returning as the kit supplier for the A-League side, having previously supplied the strips for the club from 2017 to 2020.
The new home jersey features navy blue trim and collars with a subtle hint of red on a predominantly gold strip, the socks and shorts are both navy blue, inspired by the very first Newcastle Jets strip worn in the inaugural 2005/06 A-League season of the A-League.
The front of the shirt is emblazoned with a new major sponsor in the form of the Port of Newcastle.

Current Jets player Jason Hoffman, who played in the iconic gold kit during his first stint with the club from 2007-2010, is one of only two current Jets players to have played at the club during the era when they had gold strips.
“For me, it’s the colour of the club, it’s the first jersey that I associate the Jets brand with, it’s the first playing jersey colour that I had” Hoffman said.
“It’s extremely significant in the history of the Jets brand, to be back in gold, hopefully everyone will enjoy it as much as I do.”
It’s been roughly a decade since the Newcastle Jets have featured in their trademark golden home kit, after the playing strip was changed to red and blue under then owner Nathan Tinkler, a decision which was met with backlash by many fans.
“During the Tinkler era, there was that allegiance to the other code in the town (NRL).
I think it’s important to stand on our own two feet as club and as a brand, I believe the people of Newcastle, especially the football community will respect that, and hopefully they’ll enjoy seeing us back in gold.”

The Newcastle Jets first, and to this date only, A-League Premiership came in 2008 wearing the gold strip, with Hoffman, only a teenager at the time, making a substitute appearance as his side beat local rivals Central Coast Mariners to lift the trophy in a 1-0 win.
Now a senior member of the team, Hoffman is hoping that his side can once again taste success with a return to their iconic colours.
“Last season as we know was disappointing, so with a lot of new faces we have expectations to be extremely successful this year, we have set goals that are extremely high.
“The new players add a certain dynamic element to the squad that I feel is new and it’s exciting.
“When you combine that with some heads that have been here for a few years now and the exciting youth we have, I believe that everyone should get behind the team going forward because I believe that it’s going to be one of our most exciting seasons to date.”
