Game of the Week: Girondins Bordeaux vs RC Lens
Going into Sunday afternoon’s clash between Bordeaux and Lens, no one would have predicted a five-goal thriller at Matmut Atlantique.
Bordeaux’s chances of salvaging a point at home looked slim after Gael Kukuta and Facundo Medina found the back of the net to give Lens a 2-0 lead at half-time.
Despite the two-goal deficit, Bordeaux managed to halve Lens’ advantage thanks to Ricardo Mangas’ powerful half-volley, before Jean Onana’s goal in the 88th minute completed a stunning second-half comeback.
Although it seemed Bordeaux had secured a valuable point, more late drama transpired as defender Stian Rode Gregerson conceded a handball in the penalty area.
With the game in the balance, Lens forward Florian Sotoca stepped up to the penalty spot in the 96th minute and calmly sent Benoit Costil the wrong way to give his side a thrilling 3-2 victory.

Continuing his strong start to the new campaign, Herrera scored a brace and helped his side keep a clean sheet against Clermont Foot on the weekend.
The Spanish midfielder has scored three goals in his first five leagues games this season and will look to add to his tally in the coming weeks.
