RC Strasbourg kicked off Matchday 6 with a first-half goal frenzy that positioned them for a 3-0 victory over FC Metz at home.
Derby du Nord headlined Saturday’s fixtures and, even though heated clashes between the two fanbases delayed the game at half-time, Lens defeated LOSC Lille for the first time in 15 years, 1-0 in front of their home faithful.
Meanwhile, Girondins Bordeaux bounced back from their heartbreaking loss in added time last week with a 2-1 away win over AS Saint-Etienne.
During Sunday afternoon’s games, FC Nantes ended Angers SCO’s five-game unbeaten run with a convincing 4-1 win on the road and, ESTAC Troyes got held to a 1-1 draw against a 10-man Montpellier at home.
In other parts of the country, Clermont Foot fought back from a goal down to claim a 1-1 draw against Stade Brestois and, Stade de Reims shared a point with FC Lorient after a 0-0 stalemate at Stade Auguste-Delaune.
Later in the day, goals from Amine Harit and Bamba Dieng helped Olympique Marseille to a 2-0 home victory over Stade Rennes.
PSG and Lyon’s highly-anticipated clash at Parc des Princes was the final game of the round.
Lucas Paqueta calmly put the visitors in the lead to start the second half but, the Parisians responded quickly when Neymar Jr. slotted away a penalty to tie the game at 1-1.
Seconds away from the full-time whistle, Mauro Icardi left the home fans rejoicing in disbelief after he headed Kylian Mbappe’s cross into the back of the net and gave PSG a famous 2-1 win.
Game of the Week: OGC Nice vs AS Monaco
Another rivalry game that took place during Matchday 6 was the Derby de la Cote d’Azur.
Monaco’s Aleksandr Golovin finished off Gelson Martins’ driven pass to open the scoring in the 39th minute and give his side a 1-0 lead away from home.
Even though Nice was down 1-0 heading into the second half, super-sub Andy Delort immediately impacted the game off the bench, scoring with his head and leaving both sides with a goal apiece.
Delort found himself at the centre of the action again when he assisted Hicham Boudaoui, who fired a powerful shot past Alexander Nubel to give Nice a 2-1 advantage.
Shortly after, Caio Henrique got brought down inside the penalty area and, Monaco received a spot-kick.
French international Wissam Ben-Yedder confidently converted the penalty for his side to tie the game at 2-2.
Nice had a late chance to secure three points after they got awarded a penalty of their own in the final 10-minutes of the match.
Unfortunately for the home side, Amine Gouiri missed from the spot and, the entertaining battle on the French Riveria finished 2-2.
Player of the Week: Habib Diallo
Diallo’s exceptional footwork and finishing ability from the close range were on full display during Strasbourg’s 3-0 victory over Metz.
The energetic striker netted a classy first-half brace on the weekend, increasing his goal tally to three this season.
PSG (18 points from six games) remain on top of the Ligue 1 table. Trailing them in the top four is Marseille (13 points from five games), Lens (12 points from six games) and Angers (11 points from six games).
