The Paramatildas flexed their muscles in their o first-ever IFCPF Women’s World Cup game, trouncing the Netherlands 12-0 late on Wednesday night (AEST).
Katelyn Smith, Georgia Beikoff, Eloise Northam, Tahlia Blanshard, and Lainee Harrison made up a historic starting five for the green and gold, as coach Kelly Stirton looked to mastermind a victory for the Australians.
The contest was over within eight minutes, Australia racing to a 5-0 lead thanks to four quick-fire goals from Beikoff, with an effort from Eloise Northam also able to breach the Dutch defence.
After that early flurry, the Paramatildas had to wait another nine minutes to add to their account, a well-worked move presenting Lainee Harrison with an open net, obliging to make it six.
Just after the break, Australia made it nine with two goals in as many minutes, goalkeeper Katelyn Smith finding the top corner with an inch-perfect free-kick before the interval, Beikoff grabbing her fifth for the game a minute later, and Eloise Northam notching her brace in the 27th minute.
The procession was completed in the final six minutes of the match when Charlize Tran opened her account for the tournament with a strike from range, Beikoff completed her double hat-trick to make it 11, before Nicole Christodoulou completed the rout in the final minute of regulation.
The Paramatildas will next face Japan tomorrow night, with kick-off set for 5:45pm AEST.
