Following the Glory’s 4-1 loss to the Brisbane Roar last night, Head Coach Richard Garcia and Assistant Steven McGarry have been relieved of their duties.
The club have announced that Ruben Zadkovich will take over as interim Head Coach for the remainder of the 2021/22 campaign with Chris Coyne to be his assistant.
Glory Owner Tony Sage explained the reasons as to why Garcia was relieved of his duties.
“I would like to sincerely thank Richard and Steven for the huge level of dedication that they have shown during their two years at the helm,” he said.
“COVID-19 has had a huge impact upon the club on and off the field which cannot be over-stated and its legacy is still being felt.
“Ultimately, however, this is a results business and unfortunately, claiming one point from our last four home games is an unacceptable return.
“The difficult decision has therefore been made to part company with the Head Coach and his Assistant.
“Ruben and Chris have been handed the honour of taking the club forward until the end of the current campaign and further developing the crop of extremely promising young West Australian players who have progressed through the PGFC Academy into the First Team this year.
“Given their knowledge of these young players, coaching credentials and passion for the club, I am confident that Ruben and Chris will have an immediate positive impact upon the team’s performances and results.”
