In a move that heavily strengthens Western Sydney’s midfield, Terry Antonis has re-joined the Western Sydney Wanderers after leaving K-League side Suwon Samsung Bluewings.
Antonis plied his trade on loan at the Red and Black during the 2016/17 season while he was at Greek club PAOK, making a total of 14 appearances including scoring two goals in the Asian Champions League.
The 27-year-old will undergo hotel quarantine when suitable to travel from Korea and will link up with the Wanderers for pre-season training.
Antonis expressed his eagerness to return to WSW.
“I’m 27 now, this is an important moment for me, I’ve learned a lot about myself on and off the field, I want to keep learning every day, so to be able to put that into training and into games,” said Antonis.
“Obviously being from the West it is very exciting to be coming home, I spoke to the coach (Carl Robinson) and I spoke to JT (CEO John Tsatsimas) and I want to win things with the Wanderers, I want to give all I can for the club and help us get to the finals.”
Antonis’ brother George, plays for the Wanderers’ U20s squad and Terry deemed family as playing a key role in his decision-making process behind the choice to return to Sydney.
“To see my brother is now in the U20s squad at the Wanderers Academy* is brilliant, it would be awesome to one day play on the same pitch together. If he can make the same steps I did, I hope it can happen one day and I can’t wait to see him and my family again coming home to Sydney” Antonis said.
