The A-League off-season is still in action with the spotlight placed on A-League’s youth sides plying their trade in the NPL in Victoria, South Australia, Queensland and Western Australia.

Adelaide United

Position: 4th
This weekend: Adelaide United v South Adelaide, Saturday July 10, 7:30pm, Jack Smith Park
Adelaide United made it back-to-back wins in the South Australian NPL, with a 1-0 victory over South Adelaide. The side are now two points clear in fourth position, with finals now on the cards.
The 18-year-old forward Binyam Kebede was the lone goal scorer, opening the deadlock in the 36th minute.
Brisbane Roar
NPL affiliate: Brisbane Roar (NPL Queensland)
Position: 2nd
This weekend: Brisbane Roar v Queensland Lions, Sunday July 11, 4:00pm, Lions Stadium
Brisbane Roar would defeat the seventh placed Queensland Lions 2-1 in round 12 of Queensland NPL action.
The 19-year-old midfielder Eli Adams continues to make strides scoring a brace. It takes his season tally to 10 goals from eight games.
He’d score the opening goal in the seventh minute, and after conceding in the 54th minute via a penalty, Adams scored the go-ahead goal for the Roar in the 74th minute.
Melbourne City
NPL affiliate: Melbourne City (NPL 3 VIC)
Position: 4th
This weekend: Melbourne City v Doveton SC , Sunday July 11, 6:00pm, Casey Fields
Melbourne City put in a dominant display over the weekend taking out Doveton 4-1, with four different players finding the back of the net.
18-year-old midfielder Luke Oresti scored City’s first goal in the opening minute, with side level 1-1 at halftime.
City broke away in the second half, exciting young forward Max Caputo made it 11 goals from 12 games from the penalty spot in the 80th minute.
City would seal the game in injury time with two goals through Lucas Byrns and Jordi Valadon.
Melbourne Victory
NPL affiliate: Melbourne Victory (NPL 3 VIC)
Position: 7th
This weekend: Melbourne Victory v Whittlesea Ranges, Saturday July 10, 3:00pm, Epping Stadium
Melbourne Victory were held to a 1-1 draw with Whittlesea Rangers on Saturday afternoon.
Victory scored the opening goal of the game in 42nd minute through William Wilson, with the midfielder progressing at NPL level.
Perth Glory
NPL affiliate: Perth Glory (NPL WA)
Position: 5th
This weekend: Perth Glory v Cockburn City, Saturday July 10, 5:00pm, Dalmatinac Park
The Glory played out a 1-1 draw in a comeback from behind victory over tenth placed side Cockburn City.
The 19-year-old forward Ciaran Bramwell would be the goal scorer for the Glory, dribbling past two defenders before curling home a clever goal in the 68th minute.
Having made 12 appearances for the senior Glory side, Bramwell impressed in his first NPL West appearance.
Western United
NPL affiliate: Western United (NPL 3 VIC)
Position: 3rd
This weekend: Western United v Geelong SC, Saturday July 10, 5:30pm, Stead Park
Western United secured a one goal win over Geelong, taking out a 2-1 win away from home.
Down at halftime, United picked up in the second half with Rhys Bozinovski the hero. He’d score the equaliser in the 77th minute before shooting a long range goal in injury time for the win.
