Chris Ikonomidis is one of the hottest free-agents on the market currently, with the dynamic winger and current Socceroo attracting interest within the A-League.
Sources have told Kick360 that it appears that the Perth Glory is out of the race to re-sign star forward Chris Ikonomidis for the upcoming campaign.
Earlier today, Val Migliaccio revealed that both Melbourne Victory and Western Sydney Wanderers are in the race to sign the 26-year-old Socceroo.
Ikonomidis joined Perth Glory from Lazio in the 2018/19 season and got off to a flying first campaign, scoring nine goals and registering three assists in eighteen appearances as Glory found pride in the Premier’s plate.
Ikonomidis made another promising start to the 2019/20 campaign, making nine starts and scoring three goals, but suffered anterior crucial ligament damage after coming off the bench in a 2-2 draw with Melbourne Victory on the 1st of February.
The pacey forward endured 14 months on the sidelines but made his long-awaited comeback on the 13th of April this year, earning 20 minutes off the bench in a 1-1 draw with Newcastle Jets.
Ikonomidis made eight starts, playing the full ninety minutes through twice, scoring four goals from an expected of 1.28, showing his brilliant finishing ability.
He succeeding in 21 dribbles, created fourteen chances and scored half his goals with his left foot and half with his right.
His great form endured a deserved callup to the Socceroos squad, where he played 53 minutes across four games.
Before joining Perth, Ikonomidis was loaned to Western Sydney Wanderers for half a season, where he scored three goals in ten appearances.
