The Western Sydney Wanderers have completed the signing of Olyroo and former Adelaide United striker Kusini Yengi on a two-year deal, following his release from United earlier this week.
Yengi began his career at NPL SA side Adelaide Comets, playing 16 games for the club as a teenager.
Following his move to Adelaide United, he scored six goals in 27 appearances for the Reds in the A-League Men and is currently with the Olyroos in Uzbekistan for the U23 AFC Asian Cup.
Head Coach Mark Rudan welcomed Kusini to the club.
“We are very excited to welcome Kusini to Western Sydney and we are eager to see the energy he will bring to the group,” Rudan said.
“Kusini is one of the best young strikers in the country and we look forward to helping him reach his full potential.
“His (Kusini) resilience and passion aligns with our values and culture, and we expect him to settle in well and have a big impact at the Red & Black.”
Yengi expressed his excitement in signing for the Wanderers.
“I was ready for a fresh start after three years in Adelaide. The club’s plan for next season, their amazing facilities and Mark (head coach Mark Rudan’s) hunger for success were all things that enticed me to join the club,” said Yengi.
“I’m coming to the Wanderers to not only continue my development as a player but mainly to be successful.
“The Wanderers are one of the biggest clubs in the A-Leagues with a very strong and rich history. I’m looking forward to helping this amazing club get back to where it should be – winning titles and playing in Asia.”
