Round 15 of the Victorian NPL is in the books, with some interesting results occurring over the weekend.
Now at the halfway point of the season, which sides are contending to make finals and which sides are in a relegation battle.

CANNONS FIRE LATE – Oakleigh Cannons 1-1 Eastern Lions
Oakleigh Cannons avoided a shock loss to the Eastern Lions, Christopher Lucas coming off the bench to score a late equaliser in the 86th to salvage a point for the home side.
The Lions went ahead early through Ryan Losty, scoring in the 39th minute, though the side were unable to hold on to take all three points.
ALL SQUARE AT AVENGER PARK – Avondale 1-1 Melbourne Knights
Avondale and Melbourne Knights shared the points, with neither side able to break away.
Avengers’ Dillon Jakupi broke the deadlock for the home side in the 18th to put his side ahead at the main break. Melbourne would then respond in the second half, equalising through Luka Celic in the 56th minute.
SAINTS BACK ON THE WINNERS LIST – St Albans 2-1 Dandenong City
St Albans have snapped their five game losing streak, taking all three points on the road against Dandenong City.
The Saints would leave it late scoring twice inside the final minutes of the game, Zander Guy scoring a late brace.
City scored five minutes into injury time through Ahmed Habeeb though it’d come too late.
HUME CITY SEASON REVIVAL – Hume City 2-1 Port Melbourne Sharks
Hume City have recorded consecutive wins for the first time this season, taking out an in-form Sharks side.
After a scoreless opening half, Jackson Courtney-Perkins scored the opener in the 51st minute to put the Sharks ahead.
Though Hume would rally, Matthew Lazarides equalising in the 10 minutes later with Alex Walter scoring the go-ahead goal five minutes from time.
GREEN AND MEAN – Green Gully 4-0 Altona Magic
Green Gully returned back to their winning ways, recording an emphatic four goal victory over the Magic.
Gully’s Luc Jeggo, Yared Abetew would score in the opening half to give the side a two goal cushion going into half time. They’d then extend their lead in the second half, Alex Salmon and Josh Hope scoring to record a convincing win.
SOUTH EDGE OUT THE GREENS – South Melbourne 3-2 Bentleigh Greens
South Melbourne defeated Benteligh in an entertaining clash. The sides would trade blows in the first half, with the Greens taking a 2-1 lead into the main break.
Corey Sewell and Pierce Waring scoring for Bentleigh while skipper Marcus Schroen scored the only goal of the half for South.
South would turn it on in the second half, Pat Langlois scoring in the 53rd minute before Harry Sawyer put South ahead in the 73rd minute to ensure his side.
BERGERS ON THE RISE – Heidelberg United 2-1 Dandenong Thunder
After a slow start to the season, Heidelberg are now knocking on the door of the top-six following their win over the Thunder.
United would get off to a bright start, Ajdin Fetahagic and captain Adrian Zahra giving their side a two-goal lead at half time.
Ali Sulemani would score a consolation goal for the Thunder in the 71st minute, with United managing to take all three points despite finishing the game with just nine men.
